Ferran Torres added Barcelona’s second goal in the 87th minute after a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, before Raúl García revived Osasuna’s hopes with a powerful header past goalkeeper Juan García in the 89th minute.
The Catalans defended resolutely and secured three points, temporarily extending their lead over Real Madrid to 14 points, pending Real Madrid’s match against Espanyol at RCDE Stadium on Sunday.
If Real Madrid lose or draw against Espanyol, Barcelona will officially clinch the La Liga title for the second consecutive year. In that case, Real Madrid players might be obliged to give the champions a guard of honor during the Clásico match scheduled for May 10th.
However, if Real Madrid manages to defeat Espanyol, the Clásico will be the opportunity for Hansi Flick’s men to officially secure the La Liga title with a victory over Álvaro Arbeloa’s team. It’s worth noting that the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu saw Real Madrid win 2-1, while Barcelona triumphed 3-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia last January.
