English press reports indicate that Bournemouth’s current manager, Andoni Iraola, is the leading candidate to replace Liam Rossinior as Chelsea manager next season.
Rosinior was sacked after just four months in charge of Chelsea due to a string of poor results. The London club failed to win any of their last five matches and, for the first time since 1912, failed to score a single goal in those games.
According to recent reports, Chelsea’s management has shortlisted three candidates to succeed Rossinior. The new permanent manager will take over at the start of next season, while Callum McFarlane will oversee the remainder of this season on an interim basis.
Chelsea will lose a significant amount by sacking Rossinior, who was under contract until the summer of 2032. This has made the club’s management determined to avoid any mistakes in their search for a new manager and are looking for someone with experience and a proven track record of success in the Premier League.
Iraola tops a list of four names being considered to manage Chelsea next year, especially after the Spaniard announced his departure from Bournemouth at the end of this season, given his remarkable success with the Cherries over the past three years.
Chelsea’s shortlist to replace Rossinior also includes another Premier League-experienced manager, Oliver Glasner, currently at Crystal Palace, who will also leave his club at the end of this season. Glasner has already proven his success in England, having won the FA Cup and the Community Shield with the London club.
Besides these two Premier League experts, the names of German coach Edin Terzic, who led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final two years ago, and Cesc Fabregas, who has enjoyed considerable success with Como in Serie A, are also being considered.
Chelsea’s management is leaning towards appointing either Iraola or Glasner due to their familiarity with English football. However, Terzic and Fabregas remain options as well, pending a final decision after the end of this season.
