According to Calciomercato, Napoli’s management has decided to part ways with Romelu Lukaku this summer following the recent major disagreements between the Belgian star and the club.
Lukaku will return to Italy on Monday after spending a month in Belgium receiving treatment without the club’s permission. This prompted Napoli to issue a strongly worded statement after the international break, threatening the player with severe penalties.
Lukaku’s agent, Federico Pastorello, attempted to resolve the dispute between the player and the club by speaking with sporting director Mana, but the latter refused to negotiate and insisted on the player’s return to face his fate.
Lukaku will meet with his coach, Antonio Conte, on Monday, after which he is expected to be informed that he will not be playing again this season and will be put up for sale this summer.
Napoli bought the 32-year-old for €30 million from Chelsea, and after a remarkable first season in which he led the southern club to the Serie A title, problems began to surface, and the player openly rebelled against his club.
Lukaku has only played 74 minutes for Napoli this season, casting doubt even on his participation in the 2026 World Cup with the Belgian national team.
The price at which Napoli’s management will agree to sell Lukaku this summer remains unknown, although the club is prepared to take a financial loss if necessary to get rid of the troublesome player and impose discipline in the dressing room, demonstrating that no one is above the rules.
