According to Pyramids FC, Fathi suffered a broken collarbone and underwent surgery on Sunday. He will be sidelined for an extended period.

This type of injury typically requires at least two months of recovery before a return to play, effectively ruling out the former Zamalek player’s chances of joining coach Hossam Hassan’s squad for the World Cup.

Dr. Mostafa El-Moniri, Pyramids FC’s team doctor, confirms that while it’s difficult, it’s still possible for Mostafa Fathi to make his World Cup debut. He added that the player will do everything in his power to achieve his dream of making his World Cup debut.

Mostafa Fathi was part of the Egyptian national team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and is considered an important option for Hossam Hassan on the bench to support the right wing.

Mostafa Fathi became the second player to be ruled out of Al-Ittihad’s World Cup plans, after Islam Issa, who suffered a torn cruciate ligament during his participation in the friendly match against Spain last March.
