Chelsea owner Behdad Eghbali has ruled out sacking Rossinior at the end of the season, even if the Blues finish outside the Champions League qualification places.
Rosinior took over from Enzo Maresca at the start of the season, but things haven’t gone as planned for the former Strasbourg boss, with Chelsea exiting the Champions League and failing to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
When asked about Rossinior’s future, Eghbali said, “Honestly, achieving stability in the managerial position is one of the things we haven’t done right yet, and it’s something we’re working hard to improve.”
He added, “We had the opportunity to work with Rossinior every day for over 18 months (at Strasbourg), so we knew what to expect.”
He added, “We’ve had some tough games in the last five or six, but I think we’re backing Liam. Of course, results are what matter, but we believe he’s capable of achieving long-term success.”
He concluded, “I think we’ve done some things right, a lot of them. We need to improve in some areas, add more ready players to this part of the project, take it to the next level, and be consistent over time.”
Rosinior still has a chance to win a trophy in his first season at Stamford Bridge after reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Leeds United. In the Premier League, Chelsea sits in sixth place, four points adrift of the Champions League qualification places.
