Egyptian media outlets have reported that Zamalek defender Hossam Abdel-Maguid has become a target for three European clubs looking to sign him during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Egyptian international’s contract with Zamalek expires in the summer of 2027, and it seems likely he will leave next summer, allowing the White Knights to recoup a profit rather than lose him for free the following year.
According to recent reports, Portuguese club Porto is the most interested in signing the defender, who is considered one of the best currently in Egyptian football.
Besides the Portuguese giants, Middlesbrough, currently playing in the English Championship, and Swiss club Young Boys are also potential options for Abdel-Maguid.
It is said that Zamalek will try to convince the 25-year-old to renew his contract, and Abdel-Maguid is open to the idea. However, the high financial demands surrounding his new salary remain the biggest obstacle.
With only one year remaining on his contract, Abdel-Maguid is not expected to be sold for a huge sum, and it is likely that, at best, he will only bring Zamalek $2 million.
It is worth noting that Zamalek is facing a significant financial crisis that prevents them from paying a high salary to the player, which is why they are open to selling him to resolve their transfer ban.
