Carlo Ancelotti is close to renewing his contract with the Brazilian national team until the 2030 World Cup, with an annual salary that would make him one of the highest-paid national team coaches in the world.
The former Real Madrid coach took over the reins last June after a lengthy period of negotiations and quickly succeeded in leading the Seleção to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
There is widespread satisfaction with Ancelotti’s work with the Samba Boys so far, and regardless of what happens at the 2020 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) wants to keep the Italian coach for as long as possible.
According to recent reports, the two parties have reached a verbal agreement on the contract renewal, and Ancelotti will receive €10 million annually, currently the highest salary for a national team coach in the world.
Ancelotti is also the highest-paid coach in the history of the Brazilian national team. He will initially renew his contract for two years, with an automatic two-year extension, bringing the total to four years until the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Morocco, and Portugal.
All that remains is for Ancelotti to sign the new contract for the move to be officially announced. This is expected to happen in the coming weeks, before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
