Italian media outlets have reported that Barcelona submitted their first official offer to Inter Milan for Alessandro Bastoni during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Italian defender is currently the Catalan club’s top target to bolster their central defense, and he is said to have welcomed the idea of joining Barça, considering it a significant step in the next stage of his career.
According to Sport Mediaset, Barcelona sent an official offer of €45 million to Inter, which the Italian club promptly rejected.
Inter have set a minimum price of €60 million to agree to sell Bastoni, who is reportedly close to agreeing to personal terms with Barcelona.
If he joins Barcelona, the 25-year-old will earn €7 million annually, a €2 million increase from his current €5 million salary at Inter, in addition to performance-based bonuses.
Despite the rejection of the first offer, Barcelona’s management is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Inter soon, considering that the difference between the required and offered value is not large, and it is possible to meet the Nerazzurri’s demands through variables, for example.
