Manchester City are now open to the idea of Rodri staying until the summer of 2027 and leaving for free. The club’s management doesn’t want to sell him for what they consider a paltry sum like €30 or €40 million, given the player’s immense talent and the fact that players of his caliber are rare in the world of football today.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid would be willing to pay €100 million for a player who is almost 30 years old and has only one year left on his contract. Such a move would be a complete reversal of the club’s transfer policy in recent years.
