In preparation for Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain seeks to postpone Ligue 1 clash!

The French newspaper L’Équipe reported that Paris Saint-Germain has submitted a formal request to the French Football League (LFP) to postpone their match against Lens. This is to allow them more time to prepare for their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool, scheduled to be played at Anfield.

PSG is set to face Lens on April 11th, just days before the crucial second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.

Luis Enrique wants to give his team more rest and preparation time for the decisive return leg against the Reds, while also maintaining their chances of securing the Ligue 1 title.

PSG currently leads the league standings with 60 points, just one point ahead of Lens, making this match a pivotal one in the title race.

Playing the Lens match as scheduled means Enrique will likely have to sacrifice that opportunity and rely on reserve players, or risk fielding his strongest lineup, which could significantly impact their performance against Liverpool.

Lens categorically refuses to postpone the match scheduled to take place at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, while Paris Saint-Germain insists on its request and has already contacted the league to secure it.

According to the regulations, the league does not require Lens’ approval for the postponement; the decision rests solely with them. This poses a potential major crisis in Ligue 1, as a postponement would undermine fair competition in the title race.

It’s worth noting that Liverpool faces a tough challenge at Anfield after the first leg, when they host Fulham on April 11th, also in the Premier League.
