The tables have turned… Leverkusen scores from a corner against Arsenal!

Arsenal snatched a valuable draw at the BayArena, holding Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

The London club were far from their best, and perhaps the draw wasn’t a fair result considering the home side’s performance throughout the 90 minutes.

The first half ended goalless, but in the second half, Leverkusen surprised Arsenal with the opening goal from a corner, courtesy of Andrich. It was as if the tables had turned.

Arsenal are the top scorers from corners in Europe this season, so it’s surprising that a team could have beaten them from one, and Leverkusen did just that today.

Just when it seemed Leverkusen were heading for victory, Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the 89th minute, which Kai Havertz converted against his former club.

Thus, one of the two teams will have to win by any score in the second leg to qualify for the quarter-finals, where they will await the winner of the Bodø/Glimt vs. Sporting Lisbon match.
