Salah Becomes Liverpool’s Most-Appeared Player in the Champions League

Mohamed Salah failed to live up to expectations when Arne Slott started him in Liverpool’s 2016 Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match against Galatasaray.

The Egyptian King touched the ball only 35 times, failed to register a single shot on target, and lost possession nine times.

With Liverpool trailing 1-0, Slott substituted Salah in the 60th minute, bringing on Jeremy Frimpong in his place.

Despite the lackluster performance, the match was a historic one for Salah.

The 33-year-old broke Jamie Carragher’s record, becoming Liverpool’s most-appeared player in the Champions League.

The Galatasaray match marked Salah’s 81st appearance in the competition for the Reds.

Salah is Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League, with 46 goals and 19 assists.
