International media outlets have reported that Red Bull is open to parting ways with Jürgen Klopp as its global football director, given the poor results of most of the teams he manages.
Klopp’s contract with Red Bull runs until the summer of 2029, yet the German is attracting interest from several clubs, most notably Real Madrid, who are keen to bring him back as a manager.
RB Leipzig in Germany is suffering a significant decline in results, and Klopp recently dismissed the managers of Paris FC and RB Salzburg. Meanwhile, Leeds United is fighting tooth and nail to avoid relegation from the English Premier League.
These results have led to speculation that Klopp’s position is no longer secure, especially since he took over these various teams at the beginning of 2025 and was expected to lead them to significant success this season.
Oliver Mintzlaff, Red Bull’s managing director, firmly denied these rumors, asserting that they are completely unfounded.
Mintzlaff said, “Klopp is working hard, maintaining constant contact with our coaches and sporting directors, and continuously developing Red Bull’s football philosophy.
He added, “We are confident he is the right man for the job, and we are focusing all our efforts and energy on this.”
Mintzlaff emphasized that the rumors circulating about a release clause allowing Klopp to leave his position whenever he wants are also unfounded, indicating that the German will remain in his post until 2029, regardless of any surrounding offers.
