The newspaper “Sport” revealed that Robert Lewandowski could stay at Barcelona next season, but only under one condition.
The Polish star’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the current season, and it seems likely he won’t renew, given Barça’s search for a younger striker with a lower salary in the coming years.
According to the latest report, there’s a strong chance Lewandowski will stay at Barcelona, provided he manages to score at least 10 goals in the remaining matches of the current season.
The 37-year-old has scored 13 goals this season for Barcelona across all competitions: 10 in La Liga, two in the Champions League, and one in the Spanish Super Cup.
Lewandowski needs to convince Barcelona’s management that age is just a number, and the only way to effectively make that impact is by scoring a significant number of goals in the remaining three months of this season.
Lewandowski and his family’s first choice remains to stay in Catalonia, where everyone feels comfortable. However, the player is also evaluating other available options. It is worth noting that Chicago Fire is the American club most eager to sign Lewandowski, while the Saudi league has shown significant interest in the player for the past two years.
