Paris Saint-Germain Announces Surrender and Closes the Mbappé Chapter

Paris Saint-Germain announced to Agence France-Presse its decision not to appeal the French labor court ruling that ordered it to pay up to €61 million to its former star, Kylian Mbappé, in unpaid wages and bonuses.

The court had ordered the Parisian club last December to pay the outstanding dues to the current Real Madrid star within one month, even if the club intended to appeal.

The club stated that it had decided to close this protracted legal battle.

In its statement, the club said: “Out of a sense of responsibility and with the aim of finally bringing to a close proceedings that have lasted far too long, the club has chosen not to prolong this dispute.”

The club added to AFP: “Paris Saint-Germain is now looking firmly to the future, focusing on its sporting project and collective success.”

The labor court explained that the final amount, between €60 and €61 million, consists of €55 million in back wages, in addition to approximately €6 million in holiday pay.

Mbappe joined Real Madrid after seven seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, where he earns an annual salary of €30 million.
