The newspaper “Sport” revealed that Pedri is very close to returning to action for Barcelona after a relatively long absence due to injury.
The Spanish star suffered a thigh muscle injury during the Champions League match against Slavia Prague on January 21st, and has not appeared for the Catalan club since.
Unless there are any new developments and Pedri continues his current recovery, he is expected to be ready to play for Barcelona starting on February 22nd.
Hansi Flick hopes that the 22-year-old will be available for the match against Levante next Sunday, in order to gradually integrate him and give him some playing time before the difficult period that awaits Barça on all fronts.
The impact of Pedri’s absence has been evident on every occasion. When he missed the Champions League match against Chelsea, Barcelona lost 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, and the Catalans also suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat against Atlético Madrid last Thursday in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Now, Flick hopes that Pedri will recover in time and return to full strength to help Barcelona achieve a comeback in the cup, maintain their lead in La Liga, and, most importantly, pursue the Champions League title, which has eluded them since 2015.
