According to the newspaper Defensa Central, one of Manchester City’s stars offered his services to Real Madrid, but Florentino Pérez’s administration rejected the idea of signing him.
The player in question is Bernardo Silva, whose contract with City expires at the end of the current season. He is currently looking for a new club after deciding not to renew his stay at the Etihad Stadium.
The report indicates that Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, offered his services to Real Madrid in recent days, leveraging his close relationship with Florentino Pérez and his management.
However, Real Madrid rejected the offer for two reasons. First, Silva is 32 years old, which doesn’t align with the club’s policy of signing only young players. Second, his high salary of €18 million per year at City is a significant factor.
While Real Madrid is indeed looking for a new midfielder with attacking qualities, they prefer more complete options such as Vitinha, as well as young players like Dutchman Kees Smit and Englishman Adam Warton.
It is worth noting that Bernardo Silva’s name has been linked with a move to more than one major European club, most notably Real Madrid’s arch-rivals, Barcelona. It has also been said that Juventus are the most interested in bringing the Portuguese international to the Allianz Stadium.
