Nabil Emad Dunga will leave Zamalek in the final hours of the winter transfer window, in a move that has surprised everyone.
Dunga experienced a noticeable decline in form before delivering outstanding performances in recent months, becoming one of Zamalek’s key players and their most prominent leader in midfield.
Saudi club Al-Najma made an offer to Dunga in the past few hours, and the player has already agreed to the move, requesting Zamalek’s permission to leave.
According to Egyptian media reports, Zamalek has agreed to sell Dunga and reached an agreement with Al-Najma for $800,000.
This amount could increase to $1 million if the player achieves certain individual performance targets, bringing the total profit to approximately 50 million Egyptian pounds.
It is perhaps unsurprising that Zamalek’s management agreed to sell the 29-year-old despite his important role in the team, especially given the club’s severe financial crisis, which has even prevented them from paying players’ outstanding dues. Furthermore, his current contract was set to expire in the summer of 2027.
It is worth noting that Dunga agreed to forgo his outstanding dues of 7 million Egyptian pounds to facilitate his transfer to Al-Najma. He underwent a medical examination on Monday and will sign a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Saudi club.
