The newspaper “El Nacional” reported that Trent Alexander-Arnold is completely out of Real Madrid’s plans following the arrival of Álvaro Arbeloa as manager of the club, and that the English star has already been told he must find a new club next summer.
Arnold joined the Santiago Bernabéu last summer after his contract with Liverpool expired. Real Madrid had to pay €10 million to bring him in early so he could participate in the 2025 Club World Cup with Xabi Alonso’s squad.
According to the report, Arbeloa is not convinced of Alexander-Arnold’s abilities due to his lack of defensive contribution, which has been evident in his limited appearances for Real Madrid this season. Arbeloa prefers to rely on Dani Carvajal or any other available option at right-back.
Arbeloa held a frank conversation with Alexander-Arnold, clearly informing him that he will not get playing time while he is there, emphasizing that this decision is not disciplinary but purely sporting.
The young coach believes that Arnold has not yet adequately adapted to Spanish football and has also failed to deliver the required attacking performance. Given his frequent injuries and the demanding nature of playing for Real Madrid, a move to another club would be best for him.
This discussion coincides with reports in recent weeks that Arnold is unhappy at Real Madrid due to broken promises from Florentino Pérez’s administration, and it has been rumored that he has already begun exploring new options for his career.
The biggest challenge facing the 27-year-old is that his exclusion from the squad comes less than six months before the 2026 World Cup, severely jeopardizing his chances of being called up by coach Thomas Tuchel.
The report also suggests that Arnold will eventually return to the Premier League and may try to convince Liverpool officials to facilitate a swift return to Anfield. If that fails, he will be open to offers from top clubs in England.
