According to reports in Spain, Barcelona are closely monitoring Gyökeres’ situation, particularly given the difficulties in reaching an agreement with Atlético Madrid for Julián Álvarez. Fresh developments are expected in the upcoming hours as the Catalan giants assess their options.

Spanish journalist José Álvarez reports that Barcelona consider Gyökeres a strong alternative to bolster their attack and intend to probe the possibility of a deal, although formal negotiations have not yet commenced.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano clarified that there has been no direct contact between Barcelona and Arsenal regarding the Swedish forward so far. For now, the La Liga side is simply gauging the player’s availability and current standing at the North London club.

Gyökeres is under contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2030, having joined the Gunners from Sporting CP in the summer of 2025 for an initial fee of €65.76 million, with potential add-ons taking the total value to €76.02 million.

The 28-year-old forward enjoyed a productive debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium, scoring 21 goals across 55 appearances in all competitions.

Gyökeres began his professional career with Swedish outfit Brommapojkarna before moving to Brighton in 2018. Following loan spells at St. Pauli and Swansea City, he completed a permanent transfer to Coventry City in 2021, where he scored 40 goals over two seasons. His prolific form earned him a high-profile move to Sporting CP in 2023, where he truly exploded onto the European scene with 97 goals in 102 matches before securing his move to Arsenal.
