While Álvaro Arbeloa will lead Real Madrid in the coming period and enjoys strong support from the board, President Florentino Pérez dreams of appointing a specific coach next summer.
Xabi Alonso was dismissed from his position as Real Madrid coach in what was described as a mutual separation after the 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.
According to Foot Mercato, Pérez wants to bring Jürgen Klopp to Real Madrid next summer.
The former Liverpool manager currently serves as CEO of football operations at Red Bull, overseeing RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg in Europe, as well as several other clubs across different continents.
Klopp has expressed on more than one occasion his reluctance to return to coaching anytime soon after more than 20 years with Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool, a period he feels has prevented him from fully enjoying life.
However, Pérez hopes to change Klopp’s mind and bring him to the Santiago Bernabéu, granting him all the authority he desires, considering him the ideal coach for the job and capable of transforming things in the Spanish capital.
The name of Enzo Maresca, recently dismissed from Chelsea, is also highly regarded within the Real Madrid management and has joined the list of candidates to lead Los Blancos next season.
Ultimately, everything hinges on what Arbeloa does in the remainder of the current season and whether he succeeds in leading the team to any titles. His future—whether to renew his contract or return to Castilla next season—will then be determined.
