Sergio Ramos is still looking to return to Europe for the remainder of the current season, and according to Italian media reports, the Real Madrid legend’s name is now being strongly considered by AC Milan.
Ramos announced that he would not be renewing his contract with Mexican club Monterrey, which expires at the end of 2025, preferring a return to Europe for family reasons and also hoping to convince coach Luis de la Fuente to include him in the Spanish national team for the 2026 World Cup.
According to the latest report, intermediaries have offered Ramos’s name to AC Milan, who are looking to sign a new center-back in the winter transfer window, provided the deal is not too expensive and provides an immediate boost to Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.
AC Milan’s management has not yet made a decision regarding signing the 39-year-old, but the deal seems likely, especially given the Italian club’s preference for experienced players after Luka Modric’s great success at the San Siro at the age of 40.
Milan lost the services of German defender Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United at the end of last summer’s transfer window, before signing Belgian defender Kenny De Winter from Genoa. However, De Winter has so far failed to secure a regular starting place in Allegri’s lineup.
It’s worth noting that Ramos has also been linked with several major European clubs, including Manchester United, with expectations that he might end up returning to Sevilla if his attempts to join one of the continent’s giants fail.
