Omar Marmoush is close to leaving Manchester City in the upcoming winter transfer window after losing his place in the starting lineup under manager Pep Guardiola.
Roma were the frontrunners to sign the Egyptian international, whom City would only consider loaning out without an option to buy.
According to English press reports, Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to express interest in Marmoush. The London club’s management believes he would be a valuable addition to Thomas Frank’s attacking options.
Tottenham had identified Bournemouth striker Antoine Simeone as their primary target to bolster their attack in January, but the player prefers a move to a bigger club and is unlikely to accept a transfer to Spurs.
Now, Tottenham have turned their attention to Marmoush, who would welcome the idea of leaving City and remaining in the Premier League, hoping to return to the Premier League giants next season in top form.
Tottenham will have to wait until Marmoush’s participation with the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations concludes, after which the player will decide his future in the final days of the winter transfer window.
It’s worth noting that the 26-year-old has made 18 appearances for City this season, mostly as a substitute, totaling just 515 minutes. He has managed to score one goal and provide one assist.
