The transfer of Endrick from Real Madrid to Lyon is currently facing a crucial juncture regarding who will bear the player’s salary for the duration of his loan, which is expected to last until the end of the current season.
Endrick has agreed to all personal terms with Lyon, and the French club has reached a preliminary agreement with Real Madrid to sign the Brazilian player on loan without an option to buy.
According to L’Équipe, the high salary Endrick earns at Real Madrid is the current point of contention between the Spanish club and Lyon, especially since the French club cannot afford to pay it in full.
Endrick’s salary exceeds €5 million annually, and Lyon’s management has made it clear to him that they can only cover a portion of this substantial amount. Therefore, Real Madrid will have to pay the majority of the salary, or the deal will collapse.
The 19-year-old is pushing to convince Florentino Pérez’s administration of the need to reach a favorable agreement with Lyon, especially since he has no intention of remaining at the Santiago Bernabéu this season.
Real Madrid’s management also wants Endrick to leave and gain experience in European football, fearing that his continued presence could ultimately prevent him from playing for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup, and consequently negatively impact his mental state next season.
Thus, Real Madrid and Lyon are expected to find a solution to the crisis in the coming hours, paving the way for the Brazilian international to join Lyon once the winter transfer window opens in January 2026.
