Cadena SER reports that there are disagreements within Barcelona’s coaching staff regarding when Pedri will return to action for the Catalan club.
Pedri was expected to return after the recent international break, but he has not yet fully recovered and is still undergoing rehabilitation.
According to the latest report, Barcelona’s physiotherapists believe Pedri has already recovered and could play against Chelsea on Tuesday.
However, Barcelona’s medical staff have rejected this assessment, believing the 23-year-old should be rested for the match against the Blues and given more time to recover.
Unless there are any new developments in the coming days, Pedri will be given the green light to play this week and is expected to feature in the upcoming La Liga match against Alavés.
Hansi Flick also favors this approach, as the German coach does not want to risk Pedri’s return prematurely, which could lead to a recurrence of the injury and a longer absence.
Barcelona are currently aiming to have Pedri ready for the match against Atletico Madrid next Tuesday, as it is considered the toughest and most important match in the La Liga title race.
