The 2025 CAF Awards ceremony was held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on Wednesday evening, with a strong Arab presence across the various categories.
Nigerian Ademola Lookman won the award last year, but in the 2025 edition, the competition was between Achraf Hakimi, Mohamed Salah, and Victor Osimhen.
Other important awards were also presented, such as Best Player Based in Africa, Best Young Player, Best Coach, and others.

2025 African Player of the Year
Achraf Hakimi won the 2025 African Player of the Year award, surpassing Salah and Osimhen thanks to his historic treble with Paris Saint-Germain.
Hakimi is the fifth Moroccan to win the award, and the first overall since Mustapha Hadji in 1998, following Ahmed Fares (1975), Mohamed Timoumi (1985), and Badou Zaki (1986).
Hakimi’s goal contributions last season with PSG totaled 27, comprising 11 goals and 16 assists.
