Benzema Sets One Condition for Real Madrid Return

Al-Ittihad star Karim Benzema hasn’t ruled out a return to Real Madrid, but he’s made it contingent on one thing: Florentino Pérez remaining as president of the club.

Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009 and stayed at the Bernabéu until 2023, when he left for Al-Ittihad after a legendary career that culminated in winning the Ballon d’Or.

When asked about the possibility of returning to Real Madrid, Benzema said, “Real Madrid will always be my team. I still watch all the matches. It’s the best club in the world; it always has been and always will be.”

He added, “Returning to Real Madrid? If Florentino is still there, it could happen. I talk to him, and it’s possible. I’m a Madridista; I feel it deep down. Madrid is still my city. We’ll see what happens.”

He continued, “I really admire this Real Madrid team. They have great potential, and I think they’re capable of performing even better than they are currently doing.”

“There’s a lot of talk about them, but it’s always like this. If they draw or lose, it’s a crisis. They go from being the best team in the world to questioning the coach, or this player or that. It’s normal because they’re the best team in the world,” he added.

Benzema’s contract with Al-Ittihad expires at the end of the current season, and the club is trying to renew the 36-year-old’s residency in Jeddah. Meanwhile, the French star has received numerous offers from Europe and America. In the interview, he confirmed that he hasn’t yet decided whether to stay or leave.
