Zidane Announces Return to Coaching “Very Soon”

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that his return to coaching is closer than ever.

Since leaving Real Madrid in June 2021, Zidane has not managed any other club or national team, despite receiving numerous offers, most notably from Manchester United.

Two months ago, Zidane spoke to the media and clearly stated his desire to return to coaching, indicating that he was simply waiting for the right opportunity to return to the sidelines.

The renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano quoted Zidane as saying, “Returning to coaching? It will happen very soon.”

Zidane’s statements are not surprising. If things go as expected, he will take over as coach of the French national team after the 2026 World Cup, succeeding Didier Deschamps.

Deschamps and the French Football Federation announced months ago that they would part ways once his contract expired at the end of the 2020 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

It was later said that the French Federation immediately contacted Zidane, who in turn accepted the offer presented to him in order to fulfill his biggest coaching dream of leading his national team.
