What transpired in the Manchester United vs. Tottenham match on Saturday, the opening fixture of the 11th round of the English Premier League, can only be described as utterly mad.
Reuben Amorim’s men took the lead in the 32nd minute through a superb header from Bryan Mbeumo, clearly dominating the game at Tottenham’s stadium. It seemed the Red Devils were on course to secure a crucial three points.
However, in the 84th minute, after intense pressure from the home side, Matthias Till equalized for Tottenham, igniting a truly dramatic encounter.
Attacks from both sides, and missed opportunities from Benjamin Sissoko, culminated in Tottenham punishing United with a second goal in the 91st minute, courtesy of Brazilian Richarlison.
Everyone here thought the match was over, another unfair defeat for Manchester United after a strong performance throughout the game. But in the 96th minute, Matthijs de Ligt refused to let his team leave empty-handed, scoring the equalizer in a truly incredible scenario.

Manchester United became the first team to score first, then fall behind in two consecutive matches, and then manage to come back since Manchester City in 2012.
With this draw, United dropped to 18th place, dropping to seventh, and missed the chance to reach the top four. Tottenham, meanwhile, have the same number of points and occupy third place, separated only by goal difference.
