Real Madrid star Antonio Rüdiger has made staying with the club his absolute priority, despite receiving lucrative offers from both within and outside Europe.
The German international’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of the current season, and given his numerous injuries over the past six months, it was reported that the club was no longer as interested in renewing the 33-year-old’s contract as it had been a year ago.
However, Marca confirms that Florentino Pérez’s administration intends to keep Rüdiger, but this will require a new agreement, particularly regarding the player’s salary at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Before his injury at the start of this season, negotiations between Real Madrid and Rüdiger regarding a renewal were progressing well, but both parties subsequently agreed to postpone talks until the player fully recovered, and everything came to a standstill.
Both parties agreed that discussing contract figures and terms would be illogical while the player is recovering from injury. Therefore, it’s best to ensure his full recovery and return to the pitch first, and then discuss everything.
It is expected that negotiations between Rüdiger and Real Madrid will resume in January 2026.
Meanwhile, Rüdiger has offers should he decide to leave Real Madrid, specifically a financially lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, in addition to interest from his former club, Chelsea, in bringing the German back to Stamford Bridge.
Despite the temptation of money and playing in the Premier League, Rüdiger’s desire remains the same: to stay with Real Madrid for as long as possible. The player is happy in the Spanish capital, but he also wants to maintain his starting position and will not accept being relegated to the bench.
It should be noted that Real Madrid are working on signing Dayot Upamecano or Ibrahima Konate next summer, which threatens Rudiger’s career in general unless he accepts a “semi-basic” role with Xabi Alonso’s squad.
