Officially, Zamalek appoints a new assistant coach

Zamalek has appointed Ahmed Abdel Raouf as assistant coach to Yannick Ferreira, replacing his resigned predecessor, Hazem Emam.

Hazem Emam had resigned from this position due to what he considered Ferreira’s marginalization of his ideas and opinions. He subsequently returned to work as vice president of the youth sector at Zamalek.

Ferreira set several conditions for appointing another Egyptian assistant, the most important of which was that he should have experience in the Egyptian league and have previously worked with a foreign coach, as well as be fluent in English.

Ultimately, John Edward decided to entrust the task to Ahmed Abdel Raouf, who had previously worked as an assistant coach to Patrice Carteron at Zamalek and had also coached Baladiyet El Mahalla in the Egyptian league. He is also fluent in English.

Abdel Raouf attended Zamalek’s group training on Monday and had a lengthy conversation with Ferreira. Things look promising for a good cooperation between the two parties, which will benefit the White Castle.

Zamalek is preparing to face Al-Bank Al-Ahly next Thursday in the Egyptian League, followed by a match against Tala’ea El-Geish on Sunday, before traveling to the UAE to participate in the Egyptian Super Cup, starting with the semi-final match against Pyramids FC on November 6.
