Hazem Emam, assistant coach to Yannick Ferreira, has submitted his resignation from his position. The club’s management accepted the former captain’s resignation and thanked him for his time with the Belgian coach.
The reasons for Hazem Emam’s resignation were not disclosed, but it is likely due to differences of opinion between him and Ferreira.
The Zamalek management is expected to replace Emam with another Egyptian assistant, and the options are currently focused on Ahmed Samir, who was Ayman El-Ramady’s assistant before Ferreira was hired and currently works in the club’s youth sector.
Sporting Director John Edward will hold a meeting with club president Hussein Labib in the next few hours to decide on the identity of Ferreira’s new assistant. Both parties are placing particular importance on this, given that the Egyptian assistant plays a crucial role in both technical development and communication between the players and the foreign coach.
It should be noted that Hazem Emam was promoted from the youth team to work with Ayman El-Ramady as an assistant last May. He was then retained alongside Ferreira, and there have been no signs of disagreement between them over the past three months.
Zamalek defeated Dekedaha of Somalia 6-0 in the first leg of the Confederation Cup Round of 32 and is currently preparing for the second leg on Friday, before the anticipated match against Al-Bank Al-Ahly on Thursday, October 30, in the Egyptian League.
