Egyptian media reported that Zamalek star Mohamed Shehata is furious with the medical staff for their insistence on postponing his return to training with the Whites.
Shehata sustained an injury last September during a match against Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League. It was reported that he would need a month to recover and participate in Zamalek’s matches again, but this has not happened yet.
According to recent reports, there is already a dispute between Shehata and Spanish doctor Gerard Owusu. Owusu believes the player is ready and capable of playing again, while Owusu insists on being patient and not risking him now, which Shehata considered an overly conservative approach.
Shehata’s anger increased when he learned of Owusu’s rehabilitation program, which threatens his participation in the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final match against Pyramids FC, scheduled for November 6 in the UAE.
The Spanish doctor confirmed to the player that his participation now carries significant risks due to the possibility of a relapse with a more aggravated injury that would keep him off the field for a long period of time. Therefore, it is necessary to take precautions and wait until his muscle strength returns to its previous level.
It is reported that Seifeddine Jaziri intervened to calm Mohamed Shehata’s anger, urging him to be patient and follow the instructions of the medical staff, as they are ultimately in his best interest and are aimed more at protecting him than anything else.
Shehata will miss Zamalek’s two matches against Dekedaha in the Confederation Cup Round of 32. He is also expected to miss the matches against Al-Bank Al-Ahly and Tala’ea El-Geish in the Egyptian League. His participation in the Super Cup remains highly uncertain.
