Lionel Messi ignored current Barcelona star Lamine Yamal in his selection of the top 10 young players in the world.
The Argentine star launched a campaign called Messi+10, which includes a list of the top 10 young players in the world, according to his perspective. Surprisingly, Yamal was not included.
The list was topped by Nico Paz, the former Real Madrid player and current player, but surprisingly, it also did not include Argentine star Franco Mastrantuono, the Real Madrid star.
Alongside Paz, notable names included Kendry Baez of Chelsea, Rio Ngomoha of Liverpool, Mohamed Kader Mette of Rennes, Bryan Gruda of Brighton, Mika Godets of Ajax, André Santos of Chelsea, Rodrigo Moura of Porto, as well as Clara Serragardi of Barcelona and Lily Johannes of Lyon.
Surprisingly, Messi chose Nico Paz as the leader of this list, leaving out Yamal, despite the Barcelona star finishing second in the last Ballon d’Or and winning the last two Best Young Player awards (Raymond Kopa Award).
It’s said that it’s only a matter of time before Nico Paz returns to Real Madrid, as the club has the right to buy back Como for just €9 million next summer.
Messi also acted as an extension of a seemingly nonexistent relationship between him and Yamal, as he didn’t follow the 18-year-old on Instagram, prompting the Barcelona star to unfollow him in a move that sparked considerable controversy.
