Lionel Messi contributed to Inter Miami’s 4-0 win over Atlanta United in MLS, setting a new all-time record in the United States.
Messi scored Inter Miami’s first and fourth goals just hours after leaving the Argentina national team camp to join his team for this crucial match, returning before next Tuesday’s friendly against Puerto Rico.
With his brace, Lionel Messi has now scored 26 goals in MLS this season, placing him two goals ahead of second-placed Gabonese Denis Bouanga, the Los Angeles FC star.

The 37-year-old scored his ninth MLS double this season for Inter Miami, becoming the first player in the league’s history to achieve this feat.
The match also witnessed Messi assisting Alba’s second goal early in the second half, bringing his assist tally to 18, and his overall goal contribution to 44, just five behind the all-time record set by Carlos Vela in 2019 (49).
