Kylian Mbappé left the French national team camp and returned to Real Madrid after the injury he sustained during the match against Azerbaijan, which resulted in him being substituted in the 83rd minute of the 2-0 victory in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Mbappé arrived at the French camp suffering from a sprained ankle, but despite this, he insisted on participating and claimed to have recovered. He performed well in the Azerbaijan match, scoring one goal and creating another, and was named Man of the Match.
Commenting on Mbappé’s injury, coach Didier Deschamps said, “He suffered another blow to the same ankle that was hurting him, and we expect the pain to subside with rest.”
As reported that Mbappé underwent medical tests at Real Madrid on Saturday morning, which confirmed the injury was not serious. The 26-year-old only needs rest and can return next week to resume training with Xabi Alonso’s squad.
Initially, Mbappé is expected to be ready to participate in Getafe’s first match after the international break. In the worst case scenario, he will miss it, but he is certain to be available against Juventus and El Clásico.
Mbappé wasn’t the only Real Madrid player to suffer an injury during the international break. Franco Mastrantuono was unable to participate in Argentina’s friendly against Venezuela for the same reason.
AS confirms that Mastrantuono’s muscle injury is not serious, and he is likely to participate in Argentina’s next match against Puerto Rico. He will appear normally against Getafe unless there is any development.
Mastrantuono’s condition is similar to that of Dean Huysen, who was excluded from the Spanish camp last week due to a muscle strain. He is also expected to be available against Getafe or Juventus, depending on the speed of his recovery.
