Rumors have circulated in the past few hours about Zamalek officials’ intention to end John Edward’s experience at the White Castle and thank him after four months as sporting director.
Zamalek has recently suffered a significant decline in results, evidenced by a 2-1 derby loss to Al Ahly, and the loss of the Egyptian Premier League lead if the Red Devils and Pyramids win their postponed matches.
Subsequently, numerous rumors emerged regarding the future of coach Yannick Ferreira. Given Edward’s insistence on continuing with the Belgian, it was said that Hussein Labib’s administration was seriously considering ending the entire experience and appointing a new sporting director.
Zamalek Club, in an official statement, ended all this controversy and clearly affirmed the board’s absolute support for John Edward’s experience, affirming that he will remain in his position no matter what.
The statement said, “The Zamalek Club’s Board of Directors affirms that there is absolutely no intention to end John Edward’s experience as sporting director, and there is no truth to the rumors circulating in the past few hours regarding the club’s management considering ending John Edward’s experience.”
The board continued, “The board also affirms that it will not hesitate to take legal action against all those spreading rumors about the Zamalek football team. The board affirmed its continued support for the current football management and its commitment to overcoming all obstacles and difficulties facing the club’s football team in order to achieve the desired goals during the current season.”
Zamalek is facing a severe economic crisis that threatens the fate of the entire club. This has negatively impacted John Edward’s work, as he is currently trying by all means to secure overdue financial dues for the players, amid expectations that major official complaints will be filed by the players against the White Castle with the Egyptian Football Association and FIFA.
