Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes Barcelona’s interest in signing Erling Haaland is very logical, noting that the Norwegian star is a dream for all European clubs.
Haaland is tied to a long-term contract with Manchester City, but it is reported that starting in the summer of 2027, he could leave with a release clause of up to €100 million.
Guardiola was asked about Barça’s interest in Haaland, and he responded, “Can you name a single club that wouldn’t dream of signing Haaland?”
He added, “I understand that Barcelona dreams of him, and so do all the clubs in the world. If Haaland weren’t with us, it would be Manchester City’s dream to sign him.”
He continued, “Honestly, I don’t know what will happen in the future. I just know that he has a long contract here, that he’s performing well and scoring a lot of goals. I feel that the team helps him a lot and gives him many scoring opportunities.”
He concluded, “Haaland isn’t stupid enough to sign a contract he doesn’t want to abide by, that’s for sure. But in football, no one knows what will happen in the future. No one knows.”
It is currently being reported that Barcelona dreams of signing Julian Alvarez in the summer of 2026 to succeed Robert Lewandowski, but the stifling financial crisis at Camp Nou remains the biggest obstacle to signing the Argentine or even the Norwegian.
