The Daily Mail reported that Ruben Amorim has begun to lose the players’ confidence in his technical ideas following the 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the English Premier League.
English media outlets confirmed that despite the defeat, the coach still enjoys the confidence of the management, who do not intend to dismiss him in the coming period, despite the team’s worst start in 33 years.
However, the Daily Mail indicated that a large number of United players have doubts that Amorim possesses the technical ideas necessary to save the team, especially given his adherence to a 3-4-3 formation, which does not seem effective or suitable for the players on the Red Devils’ roster.
Amorim’s loss of his players’ confidence could be the first blow to his future at Old Trafford. Continuing this trend with declining results could ultimately lead to the end of his journey with the English giants soon.
In the same vein, Amorim is receiving strong interest from Benfica to take over the team in the near future, provided he is first dismissed from his position as manager of United.
If João Noronha Lopes wins the Benfica presidency, he will do everything in his power to return Amorim to the Portuguese league and coach the Estádio da Luz team, hoping to put Benfica back on the path to domestic and continental titles.
United will face Chelsea and Brentford in the next two weeks, and defeat in either match could spell the end of Amorim’s era.
