Many theories have been circulating in recent hours that Ruben Amorim may be living his final days as Manchester United manager, given the Red Devils’ disastrous start to the season.
United lost the derby to Manchester City 3-0, their second defeat in four Premier League matches this season. The Red Devils have only managed four points, leaving them in 14th place.
This is United’s worst start to the season in 33 years, and criticism is mounting that the manager is responsible. However, this does not appear to be the opinion of the club’s owners.
According to “manchestereveningnews,” the United management has no intention of sacking Amorim and still believes he is the most suitable man to lead the team at this time.
A source close to Amorim himself said it’s astonishing that, despite suffering 16 defeats in 31 matches in charge of United, the manager is not in danger of being sacked, and the board hasn’t even hinted at it yet.
After the City match, Amorim confirmed that he wouldn’t change his style of play despite the criticism he has faced for it. He continued, “When I want to change my philosophy, I will. If not, you have to change me. I believe in my method, and I will continue to rely on it until I feel the need to change it.”
Manchester United will face Chelsea next week at Old Trafford, then visit Brentford. It’s expected that losing one or both of these matches may change the board’s position on Amorim and save the season.
