The Al-Nassr management has entered into intensive negotiations with Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa to secure his services before the summer transfer window in Saudi Arabia closes next week.
Press reports revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo asked the Al-Nassr management to sell goalkeeper Pinto, citing dissatisfaction with his performance, especially after he was one of the reasons the club lost the Saudi Super Cup to Al-Ahli.
Indeed, Bento is currently in negotiations with Al-Shabab, and it is likely that the Brazilian will leave Al-Nassr before the end of the summer. This has necessitated the “Knight of Najd” management to search for a replacement goalkeeper.
At the moment, Al-Nassr prefers to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, who can leave for €75 million, the value of his release clause with the Portuguese giants.
The Al-Nassr management believes they have a good chance of concluding this deal, especially since the European transfer window has closed and there is currently no competition from any other club to sign Costa.
The 26-year-old Costa has been considered one of the world’s most accomplished goalkeepers in recent years. He has excelled for Portugal, most recently in the UEFA Nations League, saving penalties against Spain and leading his country to the title.
