It’s over… Woltemade will not move to Bayern Munich

The story of Nick Woltemade’s transfer from Stuttgart to Bayern Munich has come to an end, after all parties announced that the deal would not happen this summer due to the significant financial differences between the two clubs.

Since the beginning of the summer, Bayern Munich had reached an agreement with Woltemade to wear the Bavarian giants’ jersey. However, his three-year contract extension with Stuttgart put the southern club in a strong position in negotiations and made the deal very difficult to complete.

Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle spoke to the media before the German Super Cup match against Bayern and clearly announced that the talks regarding Woltemade had been closed and that the player would remain with the Swabians next season.

After Bayern Munich won 2-1 and won the title at the MHB Arena, Bayern’s sporting director, Christopher Freund, confirmed the same, indicating that an agreement with Stuttgart was almost impossible, so his club would look for other options.

Stuttgart wanted €70 million or more to release the 21-year-old, while Bayern Munich’s maximum offer was €50 million plus €5 million in add-ons. The player’s agent waived his commission, bringing the total to approximately €65 million.

However, due to the lack of financial need to sell Woltemade, Stuttgart’s management stuck to their guns. The player will remain with the club next season, provided he agrees to a contract renewal, a salary increase, and possibly a large release clause for next summer.
