While the competition between Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembélé for the 2025 Ballon d’Or appears fierce, Real Madrid legend and current Manchester United star Casemiro believes Mohamed Salah is the more deserving winner of the most prestigious individual award in world football.
Salah led Liverpool to the Premier League title last season, winning the Golden Boot, and his performances ultimately forced the Reds to extend his contract for two years despite his age of 33.
When asked about the Ballon d’Or, Casemiro said, “For me, it’s very difficult, but in my opinion, Salah is the best right now. He’s the best player because of his influence in matches.”
He also added, “He scores a lot of goals and provides a lot of assists. I think Liverpool haven’t won additional titles, like the Champions League or any other competition, because their level declined a bit in the second half of the season.”
When asked about Dembélé, Jamal, and the other candidates, the Brazilian international firmly replied, “For me, Mohamed Salah is the most balanced and most deserving of the 2025 Ballon d’Or.”
Salah contributed 57 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring 34 and assisting 23. He opened this season with a disappointing performance against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, where he failed to provide his usual attacking contribution and missed a penalty.
