Real Madrid has officially announced the player who will wear the number 9 shirt next season, following Kylian Mbappé’s move to the number 10 shirt following the end of Luka Modric’s career at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The competition for the number was clear between Gonzalo Garcia and Endrick, with the latest reports from the Spanish press favoring the 21-year-old Spaniard.
However, Real Madrid ultimately decided, by a management decision, to grant the number 9 shirt to Brazilian Endrick, while Garcia will wear the number 16 shirt next season.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid officially renewed Gonzalo Garcia’s contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2030, with a €1 billion release clause included.
With the renewal announcement, Garcia’s career has been completely closed. After receiving numerous offers from clubs both inside and outside Spain, it is now certain that he will continue next season, especially given coach Xabi Alonso’s confidence in his abilities.
It is worth noting that Endrick will not be available for the start of the Spanish league season on August 19 due to his failure to recover from his injury. He is expected to return after the end of the international break in the first week of September.
