As expected, the most prominent and sought-after name is Manchester City star Rodri, following reports a few days ago that Real Madrid’s management was planning to pay €100 million for him.
The other names being considered are Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez, and Inter Milan star Nicolò Barella.
The common denominator between all of the above is that signing them will be extremely difficult due to their long-term contracts with their clubs. Furthermore, acquiring any of them will require huge sums of money, which Real Madrid is not willing to spend in the next two years.
In general, if Real Madrid decides to spend a fortune on a new midfielder, they will turn to Rodri, especially since his contractual situation with City appears easier than other names, given that his contract expires in 2027. Negotiating his signing in the summer of 2026 would be logical and smooth.
