A Huge Financial Sacrifice: Modric’s Salary with Milan Revealed

Luka Modric was forced to accept a very modest salary in order to move to Milan after his time with Real Madrid ended, according to Mundo Deportivo.

After announcing his departure from the royal club, Modric received numerous inquiries from American and Saudi clubs that would have guaranteed him a salary even higher than what he was earning at Real Madrid when he was at his peak. However, the player’s desire was to continue in Europe at the highest possible level.

According to the latest report, Modric, 39, will receive a salary of only €2.5 million with Milan, a reduction of his salary by half, given that he earned €5 million in his final year with Real Madrid.

This isn’t the first time Modrić has made financial sacrifices to stay with the big clubs. In 2023, his salary was €10 million, and to convince Florentino Pérez to continue for another year, he accepted a salary reduction to just €5 million last season.

The Croatian international primarily plans to continue his strong European campaign, as this will be the ideal preparation for his country’s participation in the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

It’s worth noting that AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri announced that Modrić will join the Italian club in the middle of next month. This means he will likely miss the first two rounds of the Italian league, given the Rossoneri’s keenness to give him sufficient rest after last season’s long season, which practically extended until July.
