The disappointment of the 2025 Club World Cup didn’t affect Lionel Messi much, as he quickly returned to his favorite hobby with Inter Miami: creating and scoring goals.
Inter Miami were eliminated from the Club World Cup in the Round of 16 after suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Javier Mascherano’s team resumed their MLS campaign immediately when they met Montreal in the Eastern Conference on Sunday morning.
Messi scored two goals and assisted another in this match, as Inter Miami defeated their hosts 4-1.
The fourth goal in particular, scored by Messi, was the most beautiful of all, bringing to mind Messi’s exceptional goals with Barcelona, combining individual skill with superb finishing in front of goal.
With this victory, Inter Miami moved up to sixth place in the Eastern Conference of the MLS with 32 points, 10 points behind the leaders. Messi’s teammates have four postponed matches due to the Club World Cup.
Messi’s goal tally this season in MLS is now 12, four goals behind the current top scorer.
