Real Madrid’s management has made a final decision on the idea of signing a new striker during the current summer transfer window, following the club’s performance at the beginning of the Xabi Alonso era in the 2025 Club World Cup.
Real Madrid wanted to sign a replacement striker with Joselu’s qualities, including La Liga experience and a willingness to sit on the bench, with the ability to make an immediate difference when called upon.
Real Madrid has since been linked specifically with Osasuna striker Ante Budimir, in a deal reportedly worth no more than €9 million to Florentino Pérez’s management.
However, according to Marca, Real Madrid’s management has decided not to sign any new strikers, and has given full confidence to young striker Gonzalo Garcia.
The 21-year-old has performed exceptionally well at the World Cup, scoring two goals. He also enjoys the confidence of coach Xabi Alonso, who believes that with him alongside Endrick, there is no need to sign another striker.
Garcia is willing to accept the role of substitute striker and make an immediate impact. He will also compete with Endrick in a way that will ultimately benefit the team. Therefore, the management saw no need to add another striker, which would diminish the determination of the two young players.
Real Madrid’s management initially planned to send Gonzalo Garcia out on loan to gain more playing time, but Xabi Alonso made it clear that the player was part of his plans and did not want him to leave this summer.
Garcia has been one of Real Madrid’s most prominent youth players in recent years, but he never succeeded in convincing coach Carlo Ancelotti. However, he is now an untouchable cornerstone for coach Alonso.
