AC Milan announced on Thursday the dismissal of coach Sergio Conceicao after just six months in charge, due to poor results.
The Portuguese coach failed to secure a top-flight position with Milan in Serie A, as the Rossoneri finished eighth and will not participate in any European competition next season.
Following the loss to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final, Milan decided to dispense with their coach and also decided on his successor.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that an agreement between Milan and experienced coach Massimiliano Allegri was reached in the past few hours, marking the Italian’s return to the San Siro for a second term.
Allegri previously coached Milan from 2010 to 2014, during which time he led the Reds to Serie A and Super Cup titles.
Allegri signed a two-year contract with Milan, with the option to extend for another year. His annual salary will be €5 million, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the world.
It’s worth noting that Allegri, after leaving Milan, coached Juventus for two terms. The 57-year-old was not employed last season after being sacked by the Bianconeri in May 2024.
