Xabi Alonso has been officially appointed as Real Madrid’s coach on a three-year contract, a testament to what promises to be a very exciting experience.
Alonso is considered one of the most successful coaches in football in recent years, having led Bayer Leverkusen to a domestic treble and a loss in the Europa League final.
Alonso succeeds Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s coach, and there is a lot of pressure after the club finished the season without a win, while Barcelona dominated all competitions in Spain.
Xabi Alonso’s first match with Real Madrid
There was speculation that Alonso did not want to coach Real Madrid in the Club World Cup and preferred to wait until the new season.
However, according to Real Madrid’s official statement, Alonso will assume his duties as Los Blancos’ coach starting June 1.
Thus, Alonso will coach Real Madrid in the Club World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in the United States.
Alonso’s first match as Real Madrid coach will be against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal on June 18 in the first round of the group stage.
This match will kick off at 10:00 PM Mecca time at Hard Rock Stadium.
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid’s group includes, in addition to Al-Hilal, Mexico’s Pachuca and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg.
